The Fresh Food Initiative is a local food distribution program through Barry County United Way, in partnership with the Food Bank of South Central Michigan, it was created to assist families when the food budget gets tight. Through private donations and grants boxes of fresh and packaged food are distributed weekly to assist families in need. It is a non qualifying program and open to the residence of Barry County. . Tuesday Distributions sites: Maple Valley Community of Hope Nashville from 9:30am to 10:30am.for those who reside in the Maple Valley School District only.For information call 517-852-0664. . Middleville Local 1002, Distributes the 3rd Tuesday each month at 4:00pm. For information call 269-795-9581. . Wednesday Distribution sites: Hastings First United Methodist Church, every Wednesday, 9am, each family will need to sign in with their name,zip code, and number of people in their household. you should bring a box or laundry basket to collect your food package. for information call 269-945-4010. . Caleb's Closet is a non profit organization started in memory of Caleb Duley, a 5yr old who was killed in a traffice accident. Caleb's Closet provides free clothing for anyone in need. It also provides baby formula, blankets, diapers an other items for infants. Caleb's Closet is located in the basement of Community Baptist Church, 502 East Grand Street in Hastings. It is open to the public Wednesday's from 2 to 6pm and the last Saturday of the month. from 1-4pm.
