EEO REPORT
The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (Report) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c) of the FCC's 2002 EEO Rule. This report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: WBCH-AM, Hastings, Michigan and WBCH-FM, Hastings, Michigan. This Report is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning June 1, 2009 to and including June 1, 2010 (the Applicable Period).

The FCC's 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period.

2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number.

3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period.

4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies.

5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC Rules.

Appendices 1, 2, and 3 which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 (regarding Full-time Positions for Which this Source Was Utilized) refer to the number of the full-time positions listed on Appendix 1.

For purposes of the Report, a vacancy was deemed FILLED not when the offer was extended, but when the hiree accepted the job offer. A person was deemed INTERVIEWED whether he or she was interviewed in person, over the telephone, or by e-mail.

APPENDIX 3 to Annual EEO Public File Report:

Supplemental Recruitment Activities Undertaken:

 

  1. A Job description brochure  was created and is annually reviewed and updated that describes many of the job positions available in broadcasting in general, and at WBCH  as well as requirements.  Copies are available at the WBCH business office for the public to take, as well as groups visiting and touring the station facilities.

 

  1. January 17, 2009 the Cub Scout pack #3050 of Delton visited WBCH  Studios  for a  presentation on Broadcasting and it’s importance to the community.  Copies of brochure described in item (1) were made available to participants.

 

  1. March 30, 2009  Hastings Cub Scouts  visited WBCH Studios for a presentation on BroadCasting and it’s importance to the community.  Copies of Brochure described in item (1) were made available for participants.     

           

  1. October  3, 2009  WBCH participated at the Wayland Area Community Business Expo. From 10am  to 3pm.  WBCH had a booth promoting WBCH AM/FM,  Careers in Broadcasting Brochures were available. 

 

  1. October 8, 2009  WBCH participated in Hastings Girls Night Out Event.  Over a hundred women toured our studio.  During the promotion Careers in Broadcasting Brochures were available along with staff available to answer questions.

 

  1. April 17, 2010  WBCH participated in the Caledonia Business Expo from 10am to 3pm   WBCH  had a booth promoting WBCH AM/FM , Careers in Broadcasting Brochures were available to  the public.  WBCH Administrative Assistant Sue Radant and Sales Red Teresa Michela were available to answer questions and greet guests.

 

  1.  May 6, 2010  WBCH participated in Hastings “Girls Night Out” event from 5 to 9pm. WBCH staff invited women into our studio for tours and to record promos for on-air use.  Careers in Broadcastings Brochure was available and staff on hand to answer any questions.

 

  1. May 12, 2010  WBCH participated in the Barry Intermediate School District  “Career Day” at Kellogg Community College Fehsenfeld Center in Hastings.  Dave McIntyre, WBCH News Director and Sales, presented two presentations on Broadcast Journalism,  and Careers in Broadcasting to tenth graders of Hastings Public Schools and Thornapple Kellogg Middleville Schools.
