Betty E. (Classic) Curtis

Betty Curtis, age 80, of Woodland, passed away September 13, 2017 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Betty was born January 13, 1937 in Lake Odessa to Herald and Lucy Classic.  After graduating from Woodland High School in 1955, Betty married Glendon and began a wonderful journey together that brought four children who shared her love for people, a quick wit and an ever-present positive outlook on life.  Known for her many years working behind the counter at Classic’s Drugstore, Betty continued to show her appreciation for kind gestures with an excellent chocolate malt prepared in her home.  Many have received a homemade card, stamped with love.  Crocheting and quilting were great passions along with the thrill of high stakes Pokeno.  Betty was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church where she served as UMW President and played the piano for over 50 years.

Those who have gone before her include her husband Glendon, her parents, brother Marvin Classic and grandson Curtis White.  Betty is survived by her sisters Norma Jean (Duane) Clum and Shirley (Galen) Kilmer, Sisters-In-Law Joyce Classis (Marvin) and Joyce Vroman and her children Tony (Linda), Mike, Cindy (Steve) White and Doug (Stephanie), plus granddaughters Mallory, Amanda, and Katie, grandsons Nick and Christopher (Jessica-Anne) and great granddaughter Leyna-Anne White.  Also, many friends who were loved so dearly.

Visitation is at Koops Funeral Home in Lake Odessa from 2:00PM – 6:00PM on Sunday the 17th.  Services will be Monday at 11:00AM at Lakewood United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, Mom’s wishes are for those who desire, to make contributions to the Herald E. Classic Memorial Park, Michigan Ovarian Cancer Alliance or make a donation to a charity of your choice… AND to raise your malt glass high and say “Here’s to you, Betty – Thanks for a life well lived.”
