Michigan led the nation in reported animal deaths caused by barn fires in 2019.
According to the animal welfare institute 253,000 animals died in 14 fires across Michigan.
The largest fire was April 30th this year that occured at Herbruck's Poultry Ranch in Saranac in which an estimated 250,000 hens were killed.
Michigan was followed by North Carolina with 42,000 deaths in five fires.
