The Hastings City Council held its’ first meeting of the new year and took care of annual organizational and housekeeping items. The Council elected 2nd Ward Councilman John Resseguie as Hastings Mayor Pro-Tem for 2020.
Hastings Mayor David Tossava gave his annual State of the City address citing highlights and events of the past year such as the Barry Roubaix, Jazz Festival, and Gus Macker events that had record attendance. He noted the continuing work on the city Master Plan that will be completed in 2020, with four areas of emphasis on downtown, housing, industry, and infrastructure improvements. This year the city will be making major improvements at the wastewater treatment plant, resurfacing of streets, and work on recreational marijuana and small cell antenna ordinances.
Tossava concluded, “the state of the City is good”.
