On Thursday August 5th at approximately 12:12 p.m. Deputies with the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car vs pedestrian accident on Sunfield Hwy near Bipley Rd in Sebewa Twp.
Deputies say a 2013 Ford Fusion was south bound on Sunfield Hwy when the driver, a 43-year-old man from Mulliken, moved into the northbound lane to give a utility truck more space. As he moved back into the south bound lane, he struck the pedestrian, a 74-year-old woman from Sunfield. The pedestrian was flown by Aeromed to Butterworth Hospital however succumbed to her injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Sunfield Fire, Portland Ambulance, Aeromed, and Reed & Hoppes Towing.
