The Michigan State Police Wayland Post is investigating an accidental death that occurred on Thursday, January 27 at approximately 5:30pm. A 7-year-old boy and his father were working with heavy machinery in a field near their home in the 7100 block of Lawrence Rd, Maple Grove Township, Barry County.

The 7-year-old boy was riding on a trailer being pulled by a bulldozer. The boy fell from the trailer and was run over by the bulldozer. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of individuals involved are being withheld at this time. 

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Nashville Police Department, Nashville Fire Department, and Nashville EMS.

The incident remains open pending further investigation. It is not believed drugs or alcohol were a factor.
