The Barry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash at Algonquin Lake in Rutland Township involving two vehicles, which occurred just before 10am Monday, June 20 on West State Road near Agaming.
Sgt. Richelle Spencer said the preliminary investigation revealed a northwest bound Ford Escape drove left of center and collided with a southeast bound Dodge Ram in the southeast bound lane. The driver of the Dodge Ram, a 53 year old male from Lowell, MI was transported to Butterworth Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ford Escape, an 18 year old male from Kentwood, MI was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and no additional information and/or details are available at this time. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in this crash.
Assisting at the scene were Mercy EMS, Hastings Fire Department, Thornapple Township Emergency Services, Aero Med transport team, Barry County Central Dispatch and Western Medicine Office of the Medical Examiner.
