Barry County Election Results

Some 16,545 votes were cast in Barry County -- a strong turnout for a midterm election.

 

Barry County voters leaned Republican for Tudor Dixon in the governor’s race,  60% to 38% over Gretchen Whitmer,  and by similar margins in favor of the Republicans running for Attorney General and Secretary of State.

 

In the 2nd Congressional District,  Republican John Moolenaar defeated Democrat Jerry Hilliard.

 

For State Senate,   18th District,  Republican Thomas Albert won election over Kai Degraaf.

 

Rachelle Smit will represent the 43rd State House District, beating Mark Ludwig.

 

In the 78th State House District, Republican Gina Johnson beat Democrat Leah Groves. 

 

In the 79th District, Republican Angela Rivas defeated Democrat Kimberly Kennedy-Barrington.

 

In the Barry County Commissioner race in District 1,  Bob Teunessen was elected over Scott Savage.

 

In Commissioner District 8 (the city of Hastings)  David Hatfiled won election over Chris Lukasiewicz.

(There were no contested Commissioner races in Districts 2-7)

 

Voters approved the Charlton Park Millage Renewal 56 to 43%.

 

The Hastings Area School System Operating Millage proposal was narrowly defeated by a margin of just 288 votes.

 

Elected to the Hastings Board of Education were Jennifer Eastman and Justin Peck.
