Obituaries

Patricia Lou Leckrone

Patricia “Pat” L. Leckrone, age 88, died on December 14, 2019 at home in Middleville, Michigan.  Pat was born May 17, 1931 to Edward Leo Harrington and Donna (Welton) Harrington.  She graduated from Hastings High School in 1949 and worked for Viking and Tyden Corporation from 1947 to 1991 taking 5 years off for the birth of their sons.  She retired at age 60 to complete her “bucket list” which she did except for learning to swim and play golf.

Pat married Harry Leckrone on May 12, 1951.  They have 2 sons:  Kirk, Grand Rapids and Kevin (Tina), East Lansing.  Harry died August 22, 2004.

Pat and Harry built all three of their own houses in Hastings and had a cottage on Lake Eleanor in Brethren, Michigan where they spent lots of time fishing, mushrooming, and going to the Casino in Manistee.  They built their first home on South Market Street in Hastings before they were married.  She lived in their last house for 56 years on Little Long Lake in Baltimore Township, Hastings.  After their sons left home, they enjoyed two exchange students for a summer, one from Finland and one from Germany.

Pat loved to bluegill fish, especially fly fishing, going to Las Vegas, Cedar Point roller coasters, playing euchre, cribbage, hours on her computer and celebrating their wedding anniversaries big time, like their 10th, 25th, 40th and last one was 50th.  After Harry’s death, Pat spent most of her winters in Clearwater, Florida until she sold her house and moved to Carveth Village in Middleville, Michigan in 2016.

Preceding her besides her husband and parents was a wonderful step-father, Lloyd Wilkins, sisters: Jane Sanborn, Jean Kimmel, Priscilla Phelan, Sue Babcock, and friend, Donald Wellfare.

She is survived by son Kirk (friend Jason) of Grand Rapids, son Kevin (Tina) of East Lansing, step-granddaughters:  Jacquelyn Smith and Christina (Paul) Coonrod, sisters Joyce Cruttenden Phelan of Middleville, sister-in-law Betty (Clem) Bielecki of Westland, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to American Legion Post 45, 2160 S M37 Highway, Hastings, MI 49058 would be appreciated.  She was not a member, but her dad, mother and Harry were.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 1:00 PM with a service following at 2:00 PM at Girrbach Funeral Home, 328 S Broadway, Hastings, MI  49058.  Her cremated remains will be placed with Harry’s at Striker Cemetery, Baltimore, Township.  Services provided by Girrbach Funeral Home, to leave an online condolence, visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
