Patricia (Pat) Haines-Whipple

Patricia (Pat) Haines-Whipple, age 83 of Hastings, Michigan, transitioned through her final earthly journey at her home on Friday, June 10, 2022, surrounded by her children, after recently being diagnosed with stage four kidney cancer. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Whipple; son, Craig Whipple; parents: Lester and June Haines; brother, Tom Haines; sister, Sandy (Haines) Lopez.

The legacy of family she leaves behind are her children: Theresa (Richard) Hammel of Portage, Michelle (Calvin) Caswell of Portage, Vincent (Linda) Bradley of Grand Haven, Brenda Johncock of Hastings, Cathy (Steve) Merten of Plainwell, Linda (Steve) Williams of Nashville, Mona Reid of Nashville; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two siblings; many nieces and nephews; cherished friends: Dawn Hill, Vivian Case, Sheryl Hagelshaw, Tammy Jacobs.

Pat spent most of her childhood close to the Delton area and was a 1957 graduate of Delton-Kellogg High School. Pat held various occupations throughout her life at many local businesses, but her favorite and most cherished occupation was always being a mom.

Growing up on a farm Pat developed a love and respect for animals at an early age. In her passion for animals she requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Barry County Humane Society or The Barry County Commission on Aging as they also greatly enriched her life.

Relatives and friends may meet with Pat’s family on Friday, June 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Delton where her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM.
