Delores Jean Covey, age 71, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on April 7, 2026 at Serenity Village.

De was born January 27, 1955 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Norman and Margaret Armstrong. She attended Hastings schools, graduating from Hastings High School in 1973 and afterwards went to Western Michigan University.
She worked at Hastings Manufacturing for over 40 years. After retiring in 2017, De volunteered for Hope Network, driving people from Barry County to their medical appointments in Grand Rapids. She always enjoyed the people she met.
De married the love of her life, Joseph Covey, on September 20, 1980 and they had two sons, Lucas and Nathan. One of the greatest joys of De’s life was spending time with her 3 beautiful grand daughters.
De loved to garden, and was proud of living on the family farm. She cherished her time with the older generations of her family, learning about their history.
She was a wonderful cook, always sharing her delicious sweet treats with friends and neighbors. She especially loved bringing her friends and coworkers together, always setting up gatherings so they could stay in touch.
De also loved to travel to warm climates, including trips to the Bahamas, Mexico, Hawaii and Florida.
She was a devoted Red Cross blood donor for her entire adult life.
De was a devoted mother, friend, sister, daughter, and neighbor, always willing to help you out, cheer you up, and make sure you were well fed! Many of her sons’ friends considered her to be like their second mom.
De is preceded in death by her husband Joseph Covey, and father Norman Armstong.
She is survived but her sons Lucas Covey and Nathan (Marais Hensley) Covey, mother Margaret Armstrong, brothers Ronald (Holly Armstrong) Armstrong and Dennis (Kathy) Armstrong, and her grandchildren Lakyn, Rylee, and Lynli.
A open-house style Celebration of Life will be held in De’s honor on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Daniels Funeral Home – Hastings.
