Caleb's Closet

From 2:00PM to 6:00PM

Caleb's Closet is a non profit organization started in memory of Caleb Duley, a 5yr old who was killed in a traffice accident. Caleb's Closet provides free clothing for anyone in need. It also provides baby formula, blankets, diapers an other items for infants. Caleb's Closet is located in the basement of Community Baptist Church, 502 East Grand Street in Hastings. It is open to the public Wednesday's from 2 to 6pm and the last Saturday of the month. from 1-4pm.

Hastings EPA Public Hearing @ the Library

From 5:00PM to 9:00PM

An EPA Public hearing on underground injection well permit will be held Wednesday, April 19th at the Hastings Public Library, 227 E. State Street in downtown Hastings.  Those wanting to comment should sign in at the Library at 5-6pm.  A Public Meeting will begin at 6pm and Public Hearing at 7:30-9pm.

Facts on the Swanson 4-7 SWD well on Manning Lake road in Johnstown Twp:.

* Injection well is for underground disposal of toxic brine from oil wells owned by Arbor Operating

  from Traverse City.

* This well is proposed to inject under pressure upto 400 barrels of toxic brine into a rock formation

  2000 feet below the surface.

*  Brine contains toxins harmful to human health such as extremely salty water, toxic metals,and

  possibly radioactive materials.

*The site lies within 2 miles of Fair lake in the Agusta Watershed.

* Injection well will be monitored by the Arbor Operating Company.

 

Concerns:

What are the risks to our drinking water?

Will the take toxic brine from other wells around the state?

Will they eventually take waste from horizontal hydraulic wells?

Will they take waste from out of state?

Free ORV safety classes in Eaton County

From 6:00PM to 9:00PM

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office holds free ORV safety classes Tuesday and Wednesday, April 18 -19 from  6 p.m. to 9 p.m. both nights in the sheriff’s office’s Dep. Donald E. Rice Training Room, 1025 Independence Boulevard, Charlotte. There are no age restrictions. To register, call Patrick Barnes at 517-543-5257.

Yoga class

6:30PM

A beginner yoga class is offered at Grace Church in Nashville, M-79, on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm. It is an ongoing class. Make a donation in lieu of a class fee. Contact Grace Church at 517.852.1783
