Carolyn Louise Chaffee, age 70, of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on December 17, 2020.

Carolyn was born on August 30, 1950 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Jerome and Clarice Miles. She was a 1968 graduate of Hastings High School and Davenport College in 1969. Carolyn was married from July 11, 1971 to October 2003 to David Kaiser, and married Thomas Chaffee on August 12, 2006.

Carolyn worked at Bliss Corporation as a secretary. She was also an assessor for Carlton Township, and also a homemaker. She was a Welcome Corners Church Member, a leader for the Welcome Corners 4-H, and also belonged to the Ringo Swingo Square Dance Club, Yankee Springs Trail Riders, and Shore to Shore Trail Riders as well. She enjoyed knitting baby hats and donating them to Pennock Hospital, she also knitted dishcloths and potholders for Barry County Cares. She was interested in family history and photography.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Miles in 1958. AT this time the Miles family became active in attending Christian Church. Her first born son, Lee Jacob Kaiser, also precedes her in death on August 30, 1990.

She is survived by her parents, Jerome and Clarence Miles, her husband of 14 years, Thomas Chaffee, son Mark (Tracy) Kaiser, all of Hastings, Michigan, daughter Amy (Brian) Heath of Nashville, Michigan, daughter Tammy (Matt) Vaughn of Traverse City, Michigan, brothers Terry (June) Miles and Jon Miles, sisters Nancy (Andy) Pelli, Susan (Dan) Carlson, all of Hastings, Michigan, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Fuller Cemetery, 4400 N. Charlton Park Rd; Hastings, MI 49058 with Pastor Kim Metzer officiating. Arrangements by Girrbach Funeral Home. To leave an online condolence, visit www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
