Donald Richard Thompson age 90 of Hastings, MI passed away on January 26, 2024, in Hastings. He was born on June 2, 1933, in Maple Grove Township, Barry County to the late Clifford and Ruth Thompson.

Don grew up in the Nashville area being the youngest of 6 children, his siblings who were Dorothy, Lyle, Clarence, Albert and Robert. In his late teens and early twenties, he worked at the Riverside Elevator in Nashville.

Don married Katherine Hughes in 1960, they had five children together Diane, Danny, David, Darryl and an infant daughter Donna who passed away.

Don was a painter for 35 years and could build and repair just about anything. He loved drivable cars and late in life had a collection of die-cast cars.

For the past 10.5 years he has had a loving companion in Carol Ergang.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Diane (Chris) Cleary, sons Danny Thompson, David (Kellie) Thompson, and Darryl Thompson, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded by his parents, siblings, wife and infant daughter and great-granddaughter Zoie.

Visitation for Don will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Daniels Funeral Home in Hastings, MI.

Funeral service for Donald will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Daniels Funeral Home in Hastings, conveniently located at 1401 North Broadway, Hastings, MI. Guests are invited to remain at the funeral home for a time of luncheon and fellowship, immediately following the service.

There will be a graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Hastings, with full military honors provided by the United States Army and American Legion Post 45 in Hastings.
